Volunteering with Blanca’s House was an incredibly rewarding and eye-opening experience. From the moment we arrived on the mission, there was a strong sense of purpose and unity among the team. Despite coming from different backgrounds—medical professionals, students, and volunteers like myself—we all shared a common goal: to make a difference in the lives of people who lack access to basic healthcare.
One of the most powerful aspects of the trip was the sense of community we built with both the local patients and the team. Everyone supported one another, whether it was helping translate for a patient, assisting in organizing medical supplies, or simply sharing stories during our breaks. There was no hierarchy—just collaboration, compassion, and hard work.
Working side-by-side with doctors, nurses, and other volunteers taught me the value of empathy, teamwork, and resilience. Seeing how much of an impact we could make in such a short time was humbling. I left the experience with a deep sense of gratitude and a stronger desire to pursue service-oriented work in the future.
