This is my first experience with a Blanca’s House mission in Ecuador.   Once Ally asked me to join her on this journey, I wasn’t sure what I was getting into.   I am glad I said yes to her invitation.

Even though I do volunteer work on weekends, it has certainly given me a higher value to things we take for granted, such as being able to breathe normally, and pretty much enjoy a healthy life.

It has also been a sacrifice for my family, wife and 2 babies, since I help her with the kids every day with the duties until they fall sleep.  I thanked her for her patience and kindness to support my desire to help others more in need.

For the last three days, I have forgotten about myself to give my time for a higher purpose and it is priceless.  I feel blessed.   Count on me for future missions.

This is my first mission in Blanca’s House. One day my biochemistry-teacher ask me and other friends of mine if we wanted to join this foundation; all what I can say after living this great experience is that I’m very glad I took this opportunity. Blanca’s House gave me the chance to help and communicate with people and to learn new things that will be helpful for me not only as a medical student but also as a human. Thank you for this beautiful experience.

I thank God I have the blessing to give back others by helping Blanca’s House, and help all this people that are in pain because of their diseases. I will help this foundation in every opportunity. As a teacher, this is my chance not only to teach, but to learn new things from other people

Silvia Rodriguez, Doctor, Guayaquil, Ecuador

I’m very thankful with Blanca’s House for giving me the opportunity to help people of my country that do not have the money to take care of their diseases. I’m very happy every time I see the smiles in all their faces. Also I want to thank my biochemistry’s teacher for bring me to this beautiful foundation, and let me enjoy all this experience. All the members of Blanca’s house are wonderful, they are the best humans in the world, thank you very much for all this experience.

I’ve always believed service is my calling, so when I got the invitation to be a traducer on this mission, I was full of happiness. Now that it is almost over I can tell that this has been much more than just a translation experience.

As a medical student I have learnt A LOT and that’s something I’ll take with me forever, but far from that I can say that this mission has taught me how to become a better person in so many ways. You realize how blessed you truly and the joy it feels when you see a patient’s smile cannot be described in words, so I just wanna say thank you to Blanca’s house for the opportunity. Every single person here was amazing, kind and super funny.

I’m really looking forward for the next mission!

Iliana San Andres, Medical student and official coffee maker of the mission, Guayaquil, Ecuador.
