This October, I have the opportunity to travel to Ecuador with Blanca’s House as part of a volunteer orthopedic surgical team providing total knee replacements to patients with limited access to this type of specialized care.
As an orthopedic nurse practitioner, caring for surgical patients is a part of my everyday work, and I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to use my experience and skills to serve patients who might otherwise not have access to life-changing orthopedic surgery. I also teach future surgical providers, and I look forward to bringing the experiences and lessons from this mission back to my students and my practice here at home.
Like all Blanca’s House volunteers, I am responsible for the costs associated with participating in the mission, including the mission fee and travel expenses. My expenses are approximately $2,000, and I am hoping to raise funds to help offset the personal cost of volunteering.
If you would like to support my participation, any contribution—large or small—is sincerely appreciated. Donations made through this page are made directly to Blanca’s House, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, and are credited toward my individual fundraising total to help offset the cost of participating in this mission.
