Dedicated to: Galo Burbano and his mother, Blanca.

Blanca’s House was founded in 2008 by nurse practitioner Galo Burbano in honor of his mother, Blanca. She housed the sick and needy in South America, opening her home to those in need of a place to stay as they received medical care. Through these grass-roots initiatives, Galo has turned his mother’s passion into his own and founded Blanca’s House.

Blanca’s House coordinates medical missions to third world countries, providing health care to the poor and indigent. Many countries in South America (such as Ecuador) are overwhelmed with those who cannot afford treatment for a debilitating or life threatening condition left untreated by their native health care system. This is where Blanca’s House steps in and makes the difference and coordinates efforts from passionate doctors, nurses and other medical staffers (as well as volunteers) to reach into their hearts, take the time and give selflessly on these missions

This year’s honorees did just that.

Every Blanca’s House mission can mean a better life (or, life and death in some cases) for those with medical needs left ignored and unsupported. Parents who will stop at nothing to obtain treatment for their children. Adults with facial deformities and cleft palettes seeking care; they will travel far and wide, walking many miles when the American doctors come to town. And children who suffer with diseases because of poor socio-economic conditions.

These are the folks who rely on Blanca’s House- some even knowing in advance when Galo and company will be there.

Coordinating several missions per year, Blanca’s House is a growing organization that is always in need of medical equipment and supplies, medicine, drugs, and toys for kids.
