The Blanca’s House medical mission to the Dominican Republic in February of 2018 was an enriching and educational experience for me as a younger, non-medical component of that mission. During the mission, I helped with the computer system, registration, and translation. Although I did not participate in any surgeries, the experience was still rewarding when I helped the patients, and I was exposed to the actual field of medicine for the first time. The mission gave me the opportunity to assess whether or not medicine was a field that I would look to study in college, and I believe that many of the other young individuals felt the same way. Overall, the mission was an amazing experience!
