What an amazing start to our mission. After arriving around 9am to the hotel, the team proceeded to check in and feed our hungry bodies. Then off to team orientation for bonding and a whole lot of information. Coordinating five treatment sites, team members hustled to meet their mini-team and off they went to various parts of Guayaquil; four dental teams (one located at the cIinic) and one medical hospital team.

There’s always at least one story to tell each day.  Today, we met a mom who brought her little girl with a cleft to be examined by our plastic surgeon.  No news in itself, but stories are shared during the evaluation.   This little one was abandoned by her biological mother at birth.  This mom never hesitated to take her in, raise her as her own by providing the loving home and care that every child needs and deserves.  The love they shared was heartwarming.

“Mothers and their children are in a category all their own. There’s no bond so strong in the entire world. No love so instantaneous and forgiving.” —
