A day like every other start of a mission, only with a different mixture of team members…a combination of mission veterans and first timers and in between, smiles on all, excitement, anticipation, pondering the unknown, all anxious to get started.

AND THE PATIENTS…no different that the team; all smiling, excited and nervous, and eager to get the show rolling. The patience of the patients is something you don’t see every day.  Although hungry and tired and apprehensive, not a peep from man nor woman. They sit in the hallways waiting their turn to be screened, waiting their turn to register, waiting their turn to have their vitals checked, and finally heading down that last mile to the operating rooms.

The resiliency of the knee replacement patients is overwhelming.  Not only has this been the norm in previous missions, but in this one, as well. While still in the PACU, they’re raising and bending their post-op leg.

Restore a man to his health, his purse lies open to thee. ~Robert Burton
